John 17:20 « Thread Started on Nov 18, 2003, 8:24pm »
Every now and then, I run across someone (as at the local Union Gospel Mission) who tells me that the Bible is out of date, that what is in there doesn't pertain to them. That's when my personal favorite verse comes in:
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me; and I in thee, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
Obviously, the added emphasis is mine ... it is not in the King James Version. But I supply the emphasis when I speak to these people.
I tell them that Jesus' words tell me that there is no time limit on what Jesus did ... that it didn't end with those who walked this earth with him, but continues for all time, until the Father sends him to bring His family home.
This I pledge, and I’ll take it to my death You can bet your life on my words and everything I said You can’t take away my love for this sacrifice Even if I die tonight, if I die tonight ~The Messenjah
